James Kirby McGuire Jr. passed away on September 8, 2023. Born on October 1, 1952, JR lived a full, vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy to those who knew him. JR was predeceased by mother Pauline and father, James McGuire Sr, as well as brothers Kenny, and Gene.
JR is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie McGuire. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with respect, laughter, and mutual admiration. Together, they raised three remarkable daughters: Amy, Jamie, and Kendra - all of whom inherited their father's spirit, love for life, and kindness. JR was a loving grandfather to Miranda and Courtney (Jerrod) and great grandfather to Elliana. JR’s siblings Timmy, Patty, Gail (Tom) and Lori. Jamies’ Nashville family whom he loved as his own, Martin, Lisa, Reed and Olivia.
JR was a proud member of the army, worked for Publix, and joined a career with CSX railroad where he later retired. He was a dedicated attendee to his churches Baldwin First Assembly of God and Gospel Lighthouse. JR was not just a man of faith, but a man of action. He held leading others to Christ close to his heart and throughout his life shared in many ministries.
Known for being an ardent supporter of The Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars, JR brought enthusiasm and spirit to every game. What JR will truly be remembered for is his legacy of generosity. A man who gave more than he got, was always willing to lend a hand, offer support, and share his resources with those who needed it.
A Celebration of Life will be held by Pastor Bert Hudson on October 20, 2023 at 6:00pm at Baldwin First Assembly of God. Family, friends, and others whose lives JR touched are invited to join and commemorate the life of a man who truly lived for others. If you would like to wear his team colors Gators or Jaguars please feel free to do so although not required. In lieu of flowers donations will be received for the family, Jacksonville Women’s resource center as well as Baldwin Missions.
We take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in his family and in the countless lives he touched. May his legacy continue to inspire us to live with kindness, joy, and generosity.
