James Arthur Hauser

While Jim was proud of his education and professional accomplishments, the roles he cherished most were those of father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his family grow, sharing his knowledge and life experiences, and being a source of encouragement and unwavering support. He took immense pride in the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating their successes as his own. His quiet strength and thoughtful advice created a legacy that will continue to guide his family for generations.

Jim’s career reflected his curiosity and ability to do just about anything. His work in aerospace took him from his native Massachusetts to California, where he contributed to the design of cameras and development of photographs from NASA’s Viking missions to Mars. He later retired from Johnson & Johnson where he worked as a laboratory technician in Research and Development.

In retirement, Jim and his wife Joyce, found fulfillment in giving back to their community though the Guardian ad litem program, advocating for children in need. His service was recognized with an award of appreciation from the Governor. While he valued this recognition, those who knew him best understood that his greatest accomplishment was the love he gave his family and example he set as a mentor. An avid dog-lover, Jim concluded his volunteer work delivering pet food to the needy in his community.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Steven Cribbs and his sister “Chickie” Manchester. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Joyce Hauser; his 3 daughters, Siobhan Cribbs, Seana Tetzlaff and Shireen Hauser-Miller; his 3 sons, Allen Cribbs, Tim Cribbs and George Cribbs, Jr.; seventeen grandchildren and spouses, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A special thank you to family members who went above and beyond in his final hours, Timmy, Frankie, Haleigh (a.k.a. “miss sunshine”) and Kyle. Jim was loved by many and will be missed by all.
