Ilean Louise Rex, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 A memorial gathering will be held in the Riverside Room at Riverside Park Apts, 750 Oak St. Jacksonville Fl, 32204 on April 2nd at 2:00 pm. Ilean was born in Wetmore, Pennsylvania on Nov 28, 1928 to the late Elizabeth and James McLaughlin. She graduated from Kane High School, class of 1947. Soon after, she wed Ronald L Rex in Limestone N.Y., wearing a lovely wedding dress hand sewn from parachute silk. Married 18 years, the pair had three children. After living in the Kane area for many years, her adventurous side and love of country music took her to Nashville. She continued her education and worked caring for the sick, disabled and elderly in their homes and nursing centers until her retirement. She was very active in the YMCA, participating in fashion and talent shows, and serving as newsletter editor/writer. She was a faithful member of the Victory in Jesus Church. In 2010, she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to be closer to family. Mom was a very special woman who overcame huge obstacles in her life. She possessed a beautifully warm, gracious, loving spirit and gentle nature. Always looking for the good in people. She will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew her. May the Lord welcome you to join him in everlasting peace. Farewell to thee sweet mother and friend, until I see you again.... Ilean Louise Rex is preceded by her parents; brothers, John, Harry, James, Donald and Robert McLaughlin; sisters, Sarah Kennedy, Minnie Gardner, Doris Kohlmeier, Helen St Clair, Virginia Bowen and Maxine McLaughlin. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Hodgdon; son Ronald W. Rex,; daughters, Debra Raught and Diane Tobias; grandchildren, Craig Rex, James Armstrong and Melissa Cole; great grandchildren, Ashley Powell, Jason Jennette, Matthew Cole; great great grandchild, James Jennette, and exceptionally caring nephews and nieces. Neptune Society is in charge of her arrangements.
