Harry Leland Gray, 94, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, formerly of Harwich, MA passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the McGraw Center for Caring surrounded by his family. Lee was born and raised in Aliquippa, PA to the late Harry G. and Flossie (Evans) Gray. He was a proud veteran of WWII, Army/AirCorp. He served as Bombardier Tailgunner on the B26 Marauders Flak-Bait and Hanks Yanks on 78 Missions. He was based in England, where he had distant cousins. He graduated from Pitt University on the GI Bill after returning home. He worked for many years in J&L Steel Mill and later at Algoma Steel in Canada for 7 Years. He returned from Canada to MA where he was employed by the Cheviot Corp. He was the owner of Beverage Systems of Cape Cod for many years. Lee retired to Florida to escape the snow and traffic of Cape Cod. He was an avid sportsman as well as a sports fan. His love for his family and friends has no bounds. He recently travelled to France where he was awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal and later was knighted by the President of France. Lee lives on in the hearts of his family, his loving wife of 70 years, Phyllis; daughters, Deborah Allemann and spouse, Alberto of S.Yarmouth, MA, Rebecca Gray, Anthea Robinson and spouse, Stuart; grandchildren, Caitlin Birchett, Dylan and Austin Robinson all of Ponte Vedra Beach, Brian Skillman of California; brother, Tom Gray of Aliquippa, PA; a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at his residence on 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017.
