Fred was born to Woodrow and Kathleen Clemons on October 31, 1955, in Jacksonville Florida. He graduated from Sandalwood High School and later followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps and joined the army. He was proud of his service and gained much structure from the experience. After the army Fred found himself driving trucks for Jack Becker Distributors oil company where he met the owner Mr. Becker, formed a friendship, and gained a mentor whom he respected. Fred’s dedication and hard work took him from truck driver to operations manager where he strived to be the best at what he did for almost 40 years.
Anyone who knew Fred knew he loved nature and wildlife and was always willing to help if anyone needed help with an animal rescue. Fred was the one stopping in the road to protect a snake, frog, or turtle from being hit by car and would not even let you hurt a spider. Fred had a full adventurous life and was able to experience beautiful places and met a lot of people and made many friends through his army years and truck driving. Let’s not forget his love for music and the bands he got to meet in person working security guard at concerts. He created great memories, and I loved hearing him talk about them.
Fred is survived by his stepchildren; Billy James Sandifer, David Lee Sandifer, and Katie Lyn Sandifer; brother, David Clemons, sister-in-law, Brenda Sue; nephews, Travis Marlow and Kyle Clemons as well as other family and friends. Fred is resting in peace with his parents who meant the world to him, as he did to them. He was always his momma’s little Freddy no matter his age.
Fred requested no services – HE SAID “REMEMBER ME AS I WAS IN THE MEMORIES WE SHARED TOGETHER”. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate in Fred’s name to the World Wildlife Federation or Vietnam Vets as they were his favorite organizations.
