Francesca Maria Basurto

Francesca Maria Bertoncello-Basurto passed away peacefully in her home next to her daughter Caterina and her husband, John, on November 1, 2026. She was 85 years old. Born in Cittadella Padova, Italy, Francesca was the fifth child of seven siblings.

She is survived by her husband, John, and two daughters, Caterina and Anna, and two grandsons, Joshua and Matthew.

She was a professional seamstress and worked for 30 years until she retired in 2005. Francesca loved to travel, especially to see her family in Italy. She was very close with her family in Italy and she loved to talk to them on the phone every single week. She moved to the United States in 1978, eventually settling down in Florida in 1989.

Francesca found joy in her garden, spending countless hours tending to her roses. She loved sharing her homegrown tomatoes with her neighbors.

She loved cats and they were her forever companions. She maintained a cat menagerie, caring for indoors and outdoors cats, even looking after stray cats. Also, she looked forward to frequent trips to Las Vegas to visit her daughter, Caterina, where they hit the casinos and enjoyed special dinners.

Rest peacefully, Francesca. Your love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew you.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her honor to a local animal shelter or rescue organization.
