Frances Jean Bowers Jordan, “Jeannie,” passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, after a courageous 6-year battle with Neuroendocrine Tumor Cancer. She was 77 years old. Born in Crestview, Florida on July 7, 1946, Jeannie was the youngest child of Lillian and Michael Bowers Sr. She graduated from Crestview High School where she met her lifelong love, Larry Jordan. From the age of 15, they had a love story that lasted until her final breath here on earth.
Jeannie attended Okaloosa-Walton College, but her true calling was that of a wife and mother. She excelled in these roles. Throughout her years, she supported Larry’s education and career while always putting her children and grandchildren first in her life. Her talents were unlimited: painting, sewing, creating stained glass, and her favorite, singing in church. She loved singing both solo and in the choir, along with duets with her granddaughter, Jordan. So many enjoyed her talents through the years. Her happiest days were participating in the lives of her children and grandchildren in every opportunity possible.
Jeannie was the center of the family, and they will be lost without her, but take comfort knowing that she is healed and in the arms of Jesus now. Her faith, love of God, and her longstanding church family and friends gave her comfort always, and especially in her final weeks.
Jeannie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry Jordan, as well as one daughter, Carla DeJoris (Tim) of Ponte Vedra and one son, Stephen Jordan (Gabbi), of Lake Asbury. Her grandchildren are Taylor Sodek (Megan), Alyssa Sodek, Jordan Mordecai, Hunter Jordan, Clayton Jordan, Skylar Goldman, and Aubrey Goldman. Her “great-grandbaby” girls are Ashton, Kellan and newborn Sloan Sodek. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law whom she loved dearly, Danny and Sherry Bowers of Crestview, Florida. Jeannie was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Charles Bowers and Michael Bowers Jr., and one sister, Edna Jane Cordts. Jeannie will be celebrated here for her amazing life with so many nieces, nephews, friends and family and will receive an equal reception in heaven by those who left before her.
Jeannie’s celebration of life will be at her second home, Mandarin Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32223, on Friday, December 1st at 2pm with a reception following. Sympathy gifts or donations in her memory can be sent to Mandarin Methodist Church.
