Eric Ehrenberg, age 57, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. A beloved husband, father, friend, and dedicated mechanical/industrial engineer, Eric leaves behind a lasting legacy of hard work, innovation, and love.
Born in 1967, Eric was born in Bainbridge, Maryland and moved to Jacksonville at the age of 14, where he spent the remainder of his life. A proud Eagle Scout and graduate of Duncan Fletcher High School, Eric went on to serve as an Apache Helicopter Crew Chief in the Florida National Guard and then earn an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Florida in engineering. He became a respected leader in his field, working for Sy-Klone International for 34 years, most recently as the Vice President of Research and Development. Throughout his career, he held over 100 patents and was known for his creativity and dedication to the engineering industry.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Julie, and children, Ryan Ehrenberg, Jacob Ehrenberg, Nicholas Guernon, and Tabatha Guernon. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Ehrenberg, and his sisters, Nichole (Rick) Ray and Veronica (Ben) Smith. His deep love for his family was evident in all that he did, and his absence leaves a void that will be felt by all who knew him.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Eric had many passions. He was an avid cyclist, a lover of video games, and an enthusiastic Lego builder. Eric also enjoyed sailing and kayaking, often embracing the outdoors for peaceful moments on the water. He was especially dedicated to supporting his wife’s career, completing endless projects in classrooms and schools across the city. His commitment to helping others, particularly in his community, reflected his generous spirit and boundless love for his family.
A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Christ’s Church, 6045 Greenland Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32258. Flowers may be sent to Christ’s Church or donations can be sent in Eric’s name to Mayo Clinic.
Eric’s legacy will live on in the memories of his family, friends, and colleagues. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
