Elin Johnson Bartlett, 72, of Jacksonville passed away on June 11, 2017 at her residence with her loving husband by her side. She was the middle child of six children born to Geraldine Johnson (Ballard) and Harry Folke Johnson on May 4, 1945 in Savannah, Ga. Elin grew up in Harrock Hall neighborhood in Savannah enjoying the woods, marshes, rivers and neighborhood friends. Some summers were spent in Boston, Massachusetts and Rock Island, Illinois. Elin graduated from H.V. Jenkins High School in Savannah in May 1963. Later in her life, she was an American Airlines Stewardess and a legislative assistant in the California State Legislature. She continued her education by completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Communications from California State University, Sacramento. She also completed 45 hours of graduate work in Special Education at Georgia State University to become a Special Education Teacher for 30 years in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Elin was an avid collector of Asian Art and Danish furniture, a lover of dogs, plants, hummingbirds, butterflies, and fairies. She also loved hot tea and had some every day. She also enjoyed planning parties for family and friends. She lives on in the hearts of her family, her husband, Gary Allender Bartlett of 34 years; her four daughters: Kirsten Bartlett-Willard, Amy Burnell, Sarah Reimer, and Neeley Karkosak; her six grandchildren; her five siblings: Lawrence Johnson, Freya Zipperer, Lars Johnson, Elsa Wahl, and Ernie Johnson. A celebration of Elin’s life will be 11:00 a.m. July 8, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Ga. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Savannah Humane Society (http://www.humanesocietysav.org) Neptune Society is in charge of her arrangements.
