Eleanor P Gnizak

Eleanor P. Gnizak, 89, who was affectionately known as, Ellie, passed away on January 25, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Ellie was born on August 29, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from St. Therese High School and married Ray Gnizak in 1948. The family eventually moved to Columbia, Maryland in 1970. Ellie loved teaching English at Mt. Hebron High until retiring to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1995. She cherished being with friends and family, travelling, writing, reading good books and playing with her two granddaughters. Ellie is survived by her husband, Raymond Gnizak, her son John Christopher and daughter-in-law Vickie Meyer, daughter Judy Finkell, daughter Dr. Nancy Wiley and son-in-law Tom Wiley, and two granddaughters Kinsey Finkell and Whitney Wiley.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Regency Elderly Care and Halifax Hospice for their love and dedication to Ellie. Both facilities should be commended for their help and support. There will be no funeral service but a Celebratory Mass will be held at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, 3171 South Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater, FL 32141 at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018.
