Ed Barrow, 68, of West Palm Beach, passed away peacefully on December 14th 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Palm Beach County, Ed was a proud graduate of Forest Hill High School, Class of 74. His love for his hometown and its natural beauty remained steadfast throughout his life.
Ed is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Jo Barrow for 44 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Ed was the proud father to Cassie Downs (Mark Downs) and Eddie Barrow (Ashley Barrow), and a doting grandfather to Brooke and Madison Downs. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in being a dedicated father and grandfather.
An avid outdoorsman, Ed had a deep and lasting passion for fishing and the ocean. Whether casting his line into the waters off the coast of South Florida or spending time on his boat, Ed found peace and contentment in the natural world. He reveled in the serenity of the outdoors and shared that love with his family, teaching his children and grandchildren the joy of fishing, the importance of conservation, and the beauty of the ocean.
Ed’s career with Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation spanned 32 years, where he dedicated himself to maintaining the parks and preserving the environment he loved. He retired with pride, having made a lasting impact on the community and the spaces that brought so much joy to others.
In addition to his family, Ed leaves behind many friends and colleagues who will remember his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to his work and passions. His legacy of love for the outdoors, his dedication to family, and his warm spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held Saturday the 21st of December from 11am – 3pm, at the Barrow residence: 13548 74th Street North. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, a cause close to Ed’s heart.
Ed Barrow will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the waters he so loved, and in the parks he helped preserve.
