Edward Duncan Pagels, age 73, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in Ormond Beach, Fl. Edward is survived by his wife Nancy; Daughters, Susan Armstrong of Syracuse, NY and Cathy Chatelain of Simpsonville, SC and step daughter Alison Mitchell of Coulee City, WA; two brothers, George of Glen Ann, MD and James of Glenmoore, PA; two sisters, Marcia Brice of Lavalette and Marie Sullivan of Northvale, NJ; 9 grandchildren; mother of his 2 daughters, Mary Ellen Pagels of Simpsonville, SC. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Brig. Gen Edward Pagels and Alma Pagels. Edward was born on August 20, 1943 at Ft Bragg, NC. He worked for Tennessee Gas Pipeline and El Paso Energy as a pipeline welder and chief inspector for more than 40 years and Kestrel Engineering as chief inspector. Ed enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S for his work meeting and making new friends from every project he worked on. His passions in retirement were fishing and motorcycling and rekindling friendships with colleagues and friends he found living in Florida. A private service will be held by Neptune Services at a later date. At his request a celebration of life will be held at the "World's Famous Iron Horse Saloon" at a date yet to be decided. Donations can be made to Katz For Keeps, 935 A1A N, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082 in honor of his love for animals and his rescue cats from Louisiana, North Carolina and Florida: Squirt, Tasmanian Devil (Taz) and Orphan Annie.
