Edward was born April 30, 1947 to Eugene and Eloise (Wright) McBride in Weirton, West Virginia, the oldest of five children. He graduated from Isaac C. Elston High School in 1965.
Edward served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war as a Field Wireman. He met his beautiful bride and wife of 43 years, Yong Hui Ho, after returning from the war and they were later married in Michigan City, Indiana on July 10, 1976.
In 1969, Edward began his lifetime career in the Steel Mill industry, where he worked as a roll shop supervisor for National Steel Corp in Burns Harbor, Indiana. He worked for National Steel for over 35 years. Apart from working at the mill, Edward enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved reading books, going to the movies, watching sports, especially baseball and ice hockey. He was a very active member of his church. He loved to evangelize to the elderly in assisted living facilities. He loved traveling (48 states), spending time outdoors, National Parks and especially the ocean.
Edward is survived by his wife, Yong; daughters, Carmen (Ron Harris) McBride, Michelle (Matt) Jones and Vanessa McBride; son John (Amber) McBride; grandchildren, Jack Harris, Nathan Jones, Nicholas Jones, Natalie Jones, Morgan McBride, Fallon McBride, Maximus McBride; sisters, Brenda (Dale) Novak, Caryl (Jim) Taylor, Cheryl (Todd) Midkiff; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister, Myrna (John) Swindell.
Edward will be laid to rest during a private ceremony with family in attendance at the Beaufort VA National Cemetery 1601 Boundary St, Beaufort, SC 29902.
