Edward was born in Panama City, Florida on February 6, 1935, to the late Edward and Alma Borschel. As a young boy, Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends and family outdoors. His passion for fishing extended into adulthood. After graduating from Bay High School, Edward enlisted in the Army and became a US Paratrooper assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, and completed his service assigned to the 187th Infantry, 11th Airborne Division. After moving to Tallahassee, he was employed by Ring Power Corporation and retired after 37 years.
Edward was married for 58 years to Evelyn Laing Borschel. He was a beloved father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his two sons Dave (Neila) and Kevin (Claire). Edward was a proud, loving grandfather “Opa” to Katie, Olivia, Faith, Hope, Joy, Grace, and Jorge & Paola Pana. He leaves behind a loving family and many friends who were a blessing in his life.
He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, and was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Edward’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 3423 Old Bainbridge Road Tallahassee, FL 32303. Reception will immediately follow the service. Graveside memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
