Douglas F. Lee

Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Beverly Lee (nee Pope), his children Damian and Kendra Lee, his grandson by Love Anderson Peacock, and his extended family William (Bill) Townsend, Christopher Zering, Sara Gelfand, Adam Richards, Michelle Vargas, Leslie and Powell Peacock, as well as numerous friends and customers, he considered family.

Doug was born August 19th, 1947 in Coral Gables, Florida to Henry F. and Nettie Lee. He had one younger brother Gary Lee, all whom have preceded him in death.

Doug proudly served in the Army from 1968-1971, during which time he married Beverly and met his lifelong friend and business partner Bill Townsend.

Doug and Bill became business partners in 1991, when together they opened Solids & Stripes Billiards in Orange Park, Florida. Doug continued to operate the business until he had surgery in September 2017, passing the duties of operator to his son. Bill remains an active partner in the business.

Doug had a strong devotion to Christ, his wife, children and his extended family. He was a very generous man, with a passion to help others, a trait that he passed on to his daughter in the work that she does.

Doug was an avid music lover. Doug played the drums as a young man, a talent that he passed on to his son. Doug found great joy and pride in watching Damian play with various bands and friends over the years.

Doug felt that his biggest accomplishments were his marriage of 49 years, raising his children, his business of 27 years, and the friends he met along the way.

Doug was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, contagious laugh, and most of all his kind and compassionate spirit.

The Lee family would like to acknowledge and thank the following for their help, care, compassion, advice,and expertise during this journey. Each one touched Doug and his family in so many ways and they are eternally grateful for the care that was received.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life reception will be held on Saturday 08/18/2018 to honor the Life of Douglas Lee.

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, August 18, 2018 3pm at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church, 8376 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32221 followed by the Celebration of Life Reception 5pm at Solids & Stripes Billiards, 175-4 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32073.
