David Kenneth Nelson, 69, of Jacksonville passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016 at his residence. David was born on June 22, 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota to the late Kenneth Nelson and Dolores Orgon.
David loved fishing, hunting, grilling, watching football, NASCAR and nature but his true passion was spending time with his family and friends.
David served proudly in the US Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran retiring with 27 years of naval service as a Senior Chief. He was a member of the NEFAR, FOP, and Fleet Reserve.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Karen Nelson; sons, Robert Nelson, K.C. Nelson, Robert MacDonald, Jeremy MacDonald, Matt MacDonald, Nick MacDonald; grandchildren, Korey MacDonald, Morgan MacDonald, and many extended family and friends who will miss his dearly.
A Celebration of David’s life will be 2p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Isle of Faith United Methodist Church, 1821 San Pablo Rd, Jacksonville, Fl 32224 with Pastor Will Clark officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior the service, 1 p.m.
