David Alan Clark

David passed away on March 17, 2019 in Jacksonville Florida after a short illness at the age of 81.

He was born in Rockland, Massachusetts in 1937 to George G. Clark and Agnes Morey Clark. The family soon moved to Portsmouth RI where he was raised with his five siblings. In his early years he was active in sports and excelled in baseball and was a member of the Henry F. Anthony School State Championship Team .

He was an avid sports fan all his life and kept his love of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and in recent years the Jacksonville Jaguars. For most of his life he loved the game of golf and was an accomplished golfer.

Upon his graduation from De La Salle Academy in Newport RI he entered and served in the Air Force until his retirement in 1980. He served at many bases in the United States as well as bases in Germany and Vietnam. David was honored with many medals of Commendation and Awards of Excellence which included the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for the Republic of Vietnam Campaign. He ended his long career at Patrick Air Force Base at Satellite Beach Florida where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Meyer Clark of Raleigh North Carolina and a son Robert Alan Clark and grandson Sean Clark also of Raleigh. A daughter Valerie Clark Clowes and husband Richard Clowes and granddaughter Mia Clowes and grandson Cameron Clowes of Apex North Carolina. He also leaves his sister Joyce Clark Westcott of Tiverton RI , and sister Donna Clark Menzi and husband Walter Menzi of Farmington, NH and his sister-in-law Evelyn Clark of Bristol RI, as well as many nieces and nephews and his longtime friend Clark Findley and family of Jacksonville.

He was predeceased by his brother George G Clark, sister Marilyn Clark Donovan and brother-in-law Lawrence Donovan and a sister Mary Lou Clark Mello and brother-in-law Thomas Mello & George Westcott.

He will be buried in the family plot at St. Columba’s Cemetery with full military honors in Middletown RI.
