Dan was born on December 7, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois.
Dan is survived by his wife, Leslie Carzoli, his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Carzoli of Scottsdale, Arizona; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews as well as grand and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jean Carzoli, his brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Marilyn Cieslak Carzoli, and his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jim Richert.
In 1982 he moved to Florida where he pursued his passions. He achieved a Bachelors Degree in Social Work, a Masters Degree in Pastoral Psychology and was all but dissertation for his doctorate. In addition, he was an Internationally Certified Masters Level Addiction Professional. He worked for more than 30 years in the addiction treatment field as a supervising clinician, executive director and therapist and was instrumental in changing the lives of many people all over the world. He seemed to deeply touch everyone and every group or agency in which he participated, including, Matrix House, the Spyder Riders, the Shriners, Masons and the recovery community.
Dan was a patient and supportive teacher with an uncanny knack for motivating the stubborn and inspiring creativity and dedication in all. He retired in 2012, and dedicated himself to the recovering community, reading, traveling and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved people, and his family most of all. Dan will be remembered for his wit and his generosity, as well as his habit of having the best smile and the most eye-opening remarks.
A celebration of life ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Hampton Inn and Suites, 141 Park Avenue, Orange Park, Florida. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dan’s life. A recovery meeting in his honor will commence at 2 pm, and a tribute to his life will commence at 4pm.
