Clinton Richard Emberson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 97. He was born November 5, 1926, in LaGrange, Illinois, to Julia and Harry Emberson.
Dick graduated from Northwestern University in 1949 with a business degree. He was a member of the Zeta Phi Epsilon Fraternity. After graduating college, Dick was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and stationed in Baltimore, Maryland, where he met the love of his life, Nancy. They got married on March 7, 1953. A born entrepreneur, Dick managed many businesses. In 1987, Dick and Nancy started a new business, America’s Call Center, that is still thriving today. Dick remained active as CEO until the day he died. A humorous man and a great storyteller, Dick amused his family with funny stories from his childhood and Army days. Dick had a passion for sailing and all things related to ships! Besides sailing, Dick had many hobbies that included skiing, horseback riding, photography, music, gardening and history. Dick and Nancy enjoyed traveling and boating off the coast of North Carolina and Florida.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy and his granddaughter, Hannah Emberson. He is survived by his children, David Emberson (Janell) of Santa Cruz, CA, Harry Emberson (Sigi) of Miami, FL, and Alison Ridenhour (Dick) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Robbie Emberson (Dani), Laura Trevino, Courtney Apgar (Jack), and Michael Ridenhour (Caroline) and seven great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Tammy and Betsy as well as his Hospice nurse, Jennifer, for the care and compassion they showed Dick in his final days.
A graveside service for family with be held at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook, Il, on May 16, 2025.
