Casey Stewart Means, 41 years old, went to be with His Lord and Savior on February 8, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Raelyn Diane Means, his two daughters who were his pride and joy, Ashlyn Rae and Savannah Brynn; his parents Wayne and Debbie Means; his brother Dustin Means; his sister Amber Means LaBrue; his nephew Tyler Zbytek and his niece Kylie LaBrue; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Casey was born June 23, 1982, in Fort Myers, Florida. The youngest of three children, he spent his childhood in Southwest Florida. Casey started racing BMX at the age of 5. He worked his way up to being on the MCS Factor State Championship team. He participated in the 1994 World Championships in Waterford Oaks, Michigan, and he had numerous state and national rankings. He graduated from North Fort Myers High School in 2000 and then received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida in 2004.
In 2003, he met Raelyn Emler, and on March 12, 2005, they were married in Cape Coral, Florida. Casey and Raelyn moved to Daytona Beach where Casey pursued a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, following in the footsteps of his two uncles. Casey’s dedication to the chiropractic profession was recognized at his graduation in 2008, when he received the Virgil V. Strang Philosophy Award. Casey and his wife returned to Lee County, Florida in 2008, where they lived from 2008-2017. There they had two daughters, Ashlyn in 2012 and Savannah in 2014, and shared many memories with family and friends. In 2017, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, to pursue new opportunities and adventures. Casey practiced chiropractic in Jacksonville, most recently at River Hills Chiropractic. He was a member of Christ Church East in Jacksonville.
Casey was known for his love of the outdoors, adventure, and being the ultimate girl dad. Nothing made him happier than playing with his princesses, or watching them dance, or taking them on outdoor adventures. He loved to work with his hands and spent his free time woodworking and planting gardens. His greatest moments of contentment were at the beach where he liked to surf, or on hiking trails with his wife and daughters.
Casey longed for the day he would be united with his Savior and heaven was his home. His family rejoices he is free from earthly pain and resting in the arms of Jesus. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13-14.
A memorial service will be held for Casey Means on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 4pm, at Christ Church East, UNF University Center, 12000 Alumni Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32224. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up for his family at https://bit.ly/MeansMemorialFund.
