Beverly Kay Kneessi

Born August 28, 1938 in Washington, D.C., a birthday she shared with her mother, she grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1956. She worked for the University of Maryland before relocating to Jacksonville with her family in 1978, continuing her career with the Federal Aviation Administration in Hilliard, Florida until her retirement in the early 2000s.

Beverly loved to travel and enjoyed cruises. She was very involved with the Red Hat Society for many years. An avid reader, she loved a great book, her pets, and a good slot machine that was paying out. She was never far from her diet soda mug, as the family often joked. She was a strong, loving supporter — no matter the circumstances, Grandma was always there.

She cherished time with family and grandchildren, especially her first great-granddaughter Angel in her later years. She enjoyed shopping, movies, a good meal, and had a great sense of humor. She loved sports; her teams were the Maryland Terrapins, Washington Redskins, and Jacksonville Jaguars. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Ruby Fling; husband Herbert Kneessi Jr.; son Herbert (Buck) Kneessi III; and sisters Colleen Royce and Dana Delaney.

She is survived by daughter Terri Wiles; grandchildren Jeremy, Justin, Chris and Kylie Kneessi, Miranda Bryant and Amber Polk; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family thanks Community Hospice for their care and compassion in her final days. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Beverly's honor to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
