Born on August 25, 1931, in Manzanares, Colombia, Adele was the sixth of nine children. She was the daughter of Arcelia Jaramillo and Julio Marin, who served as mayor of Manzanares during the 1930s. Her Colombian roots and large family remained an important part of the story of her life.
In 1960, Adele moved to Miami, where she began building her life in South Florida and met her first husband, Ted. Together they had three children: Samuel Harris, married to Leigh; Donna, married to Scott Liberman; and Laurel, married to Paul Harty.
After her marriage ended, Adele remained in South Florida, where she eventually met George Gordon, the love of her life and her ‘forever person’. Together, Adele and George shared a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and travel. They explored the world together and created countless memories that her family will cherish forever.
Adele was a devoted and loving mother who was a constant presence in her children's lives. When her children were young, she volunteered extensively with their schools and social organizations, always finding ways to be involved and support her family.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Adele loved painting, knitting, crocheting, cooking, doing puzzles, and gardening. She would never turn down a quick run to the casino to play the slots or a morning of bingo at the local senior community center. She had a creative spirit and a generous heart, and she brought warmth and personality to everything she did.
Adele also had a very special relationship with her beloved cat, Gigi, whom she affectionately called her daughter. Gigi now lives with Adele's son, Sam, and daughter-in-law, Leigh, where she continues to be loved and cared for.
Following George's passing, Adele divided her time between her daughter Donna in Fort Lauderdale and her son Sam in Daytona Beach, surrounded by the love and companionship of her family.
Adele is survived by her three children, Samuel Harris (Leigh), Donna Liberman (Scott), and Laurel Harty (Paul); her stepsons David Gordon (Beth), and Louis Gordon (Elyse), her grandchildren, Kyle, Caleb, Coby, Cooper, and Aidan; and the extended family and friends whose lives she touched.
Adele will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, devotion to her family, and her ability to find joy in life's everyday moments. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and as a woman who treasured the people she loved. Her laughter, her stories, her kindness, and the memories she created with her family will live on in their hearts.
