Victor Murray of Plano Texas passed away on February 12, 2025 after a short battle with stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma. at the age of 65. He was born on June 27, 1959 in Anaheim California and spent his early childhood living near DisneyLand watching fireworks at night from his backyard. When he was in middle school he moved to Springfield, Missouri with his mom and dad and sister Lori and his dad opened Lakeshor Barber Shop that he operated for over 50 years. When Vic wasn't helping his dad in the barber shop on weekends he was riding his bike or skateboard selling grit newspapers at the Hospital and thinking of his first car. Vic actually had three Corvairs when he turned 16 that he liked to restore and sell. His love for cars would continue the rest of his life.
Vic graduated from Parkview High School and went to Missouri State University on a music scholarship for playing trumpet. He wanted to graduate and play in the band at Disneyland but one of his college professors suggested that he study Management Information Systems and Marketing instead and that led to his lifelong career in software sales.
Right out of college Vic and a Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity brother packed up their cars and drove to Dallas. He got a job at TI and that lasted about a week because it was a desk job and if you know Vic you know sitting around wasn’t for him. Over the years he worked at HP, Oracle, Broadcom, McAfee, Cyren and Tanium. He made many lifelong friends throughout his career and won over 20 sales club trips for top performers- travelling often to Maui.
Vic had many hobbies throughout his life including buying and selling cars, skiing, golfing, playing the guitar and learning to fly in his 40’s. He had a few airplanes but his Bonanza was his favorite. In 2011 he met his wife Pam. When they met they talked about having 30 Christmases together and living life intentionally. They did not have that many but ”Team VLA” made the most out of their lives together travelling, owning a home in Florida, golfing, entertaining in their home, enjoying the company of many friends and spending time with their children. Vic was very proud of his kids and we often talked and dreamed of the bright future in front of all of them. He loved them dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents Norma and Bill Murray as well as his sister Lori Murray.
Vic is survived by Blake and Ashton Murray Kelsey and Andrey Ziegler Kaitlyn Blankenship and his beloved “Lala”, Pam Murray.
The family would like to thank Faith Presbyterian Hospice and T. Boone Pickens Hospice facility for the care and compassion they showed in Vic’s final days. The many friends and family that came alongside Vic and Pam during this last year will never be forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Vic on Friday February 21 at 11:00 in the Hasley Chapel at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano. A reception will follow at their home.
Please consider making a donation in Vic’s honor to The Longneck Manor Conservation Foundation. Vic and Pam traveled to and stayed as the only guests at the Longneck Manor in the Fall of 2022 and had a one of a kind experience with the giraffes and rhinoceroses that lived there. https://longneckmanor.com/ways-to-help/
