Robert Edward Nystrom

Robert (Bob) Edward Nystrom of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on September 25, 1936, in Washington, PA and graduated from Washington High School.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 1953 and served until 1955 when he joined the reserves until 1965. Robert served as a radio technician during his time in the service.

He worked as a civil servant for over 35 years primarily at U.S. Army Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) at Fort Belvoir, VA where he was a key contributor on several Army programs. He continued to work in the private sector for over 5 years post-retirement before moving to Texas in the early 2000’s.

Bob is preceded in death by his father – Victor Gustav Nystrom and mother, Hazel Marie Reece and brother, Richard Victor Nystrom.

Bob is survived by his wife, Maggie Sue Nystrom of Holly Lake Ranch TX. His children, Melody Lorene Hoover of Winston Salem NC, Beth Marie Wise of Ashburn VA and Micheal Albert Nystrom of Forney, TX. Robert is also survived by his five grandchildren, Elijah Choplin of Atlanta GA, Jennifer Wise of Ashburn VA, Ryan Nystrom of Forney, TX, Heather Wise of Ashburn VA and Owen Nystrom of Forney, TX.

The family would like to thank Hospice of East Texas for the care and compassion they showed Bob in their final days.

Interment will be at the Dallas / Ft. Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
