Robert (Bob) Otis Branch, cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 25, 2024, in Tyler, TX. Born on March 30, 1940, in Sandusky, Michigan, Bob's life was a rich tapestry of humor, music, and love.
Bob was renowned for his infectious laugh, delightful sense of humor, and genuine interest in everyone he encountered. A proud graduate of Eastern Michigan University, he dedicated 40 years to a fulfilling career as a speech and language pathologist in public schools in Michigan and Arizona, profoundly impacting the lives of his students.
Outside the classroom, Bob’s love for entertainment flourished. Adorned with a guitar and microphone, he transformed into ‘Brother Bob Springfield,’ a quick-witted comic and soulful singer who captivated audiences and stole hearts with his performances. His rendition of the classic song "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" was a particular favorite, spreading joy and laughter wherever he performed.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Keli Luther. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Janet Branch; his daughter Jodi Thompson and her husband Mike Thompson; his son-in-law Kurt Luther; his cherished grandchildren Keegan Luther and Kendall Luther; his brother Charles Branch and his wife Karen Branch; and a host of other relatives and friends. Bob’s memory will forever be etched in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hospice of East Texas or Alzheimer’s & Dementia Research (ALZ.org).
Though Bob’s passing leaves a profound void, his spirit and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
