Patricia Nell Burt

Patricia Nell Hanna Burt, affectionately known as Patty, mom & Mimi, peacefully transitioned from this life on August 27, 2023, at the age of 73, in Canton, TX. She was born on February 27, 1950, in Liberal, Kansas, to Clarence and Evalyn Hanna, the first born of their three daughters. During Patty's life, she fully embraced her roles as a cherished daughter, devoted wife, nurturing mother, loving bonus mother, and adored grandmother.

Patty leaves behind many memories that demonstrated her values of selflessness, compassion, empathy, passion, and boundless love. In her career as a middle school secretary in Forney, TX, she left a lasting influence on numerous students and colleagues because of her tireless commitment and welcoming demeanor. During her 23 years with Forney ISD, she earned a reputation as a dedicated and loyal employee, making her an indispensable pillar of the school, the district, and the surrounding community.

Outside of the job that she loved, Patty found joy in an array of hobbies that stirred her soul. With her innate artistic flair, she breathed new life into crafts and old furniture, elevating ordinary items into virtual masterpieces. Beyond her personal past time pursuits, Patty served her community as Treasurer and Executive Committee Board Member for the Van Zandt County Democrats, a testament to her fervent dedication to civic duty, local service, and positive change.

Patty's legacy continues through her beloved daughter, Kendra Burt, and treasured grandson, Austin Burt. Additionally, her enduring impact lives on through her bonus daughter, Robie Flannagan, and Robie's wife, Lisa Lovejoy. Surviving Patty are also her sister, Lisa Filler, and numerous other family members. Patty was preceded in her transition by her beloved husband, James “Rick” Burt, by her parents, Clarence and Evalyn Hanna, and her sister, Donita Hanna.

Parting with one so dearly loved is never easy, but her warm-heartedness, selflessness, and unwavering love will remain etched in the hearts of all who have been privileged to know her. She leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire and touch lives, a true testament to a life well-lived.
