In Loving Memory of Michael Calvillo April 5, 1969 – October 8, 2025 Michael Calvillo, 56, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, while in the hospital in Plano, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. Michael was born on April 5, 1969, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Gloria Luz (Ramon) and Jose de Jesus Calvillo. Michael grew up in Hobbs and attended Hobbs High School. He was a man full of life, laughter, and love. His kind and giving heart touched everyone who knew him. Even in his own times of need, he was always willing to help others. He had an incredible sense of humor and an infectious laugh that made it impossible not to love him. He had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life: fishing, being outdoors, and listening to old school and oldies music. Michael was also a talented artist, often expressing his creativity through drawing and sharing his artwork as gifts for others. He loved breakdancing, lowriders, and most of all, spending time with family. He longed for moments when everyone could come together, laugh, and make new memories. Michael is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Gloria Austin, and brother, Fabian Flores. He is survived by his father, Jose de Jesus Calvillo; his siblings: Jesse Calvillo and wife Inez, Rosalinda Barraza and husband David, Diana Morgan, Letitia Boykins and husband Ray, and Gary Austin Jr. and wife Quotesha; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Though his presence will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that Michael is now in the presence of his Heavenly Father, completely healed and whole, rejoicing with his Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service celebrating Michael’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Green Meadow Lake in Hobbs, New Mexico. Michael will be cremated, and his ashes will be lovingly scattered in one of his favorite outdoor places, returning him to the beauty and peace he always found in nature. Michael will be missed beyond measure, but his laughter, love, and light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
