Born January 31, 1941, Mickey grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas and attended Sunset High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. He devoted his career to helping others as a psychotherapist, forensic social worker, and interventionist.
Mickey would proudly share that, through the grace of God and working the steps, he achieved over 36 years of sobriety; one day at a time. His journey became a testimony of strength and hope, inspiring countless others to find their own path to recovery.
Known for his loyalty, humor, wit, and charisma, Mickey was a social butterfly who brought light and laughter wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Lucille Bickers, and his daughters Carolyn Jo Hough and Tracie Ann Cook. He is survived by his brother, Bennie Bickers; daughters Terri Juhren and Kelly Taylor; grandchildren Hayley, Josh, Amanda, Michael, Matthew, Carly, Carrie, David, Dalton, and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Adelynn Jo, Eliana, Emily, Madilyn, Charlotte, Harper, Willow, River, and Jude.
Mickey’s family and friends take comfort in knowing that every life he touched was like a pebble dropped into still water; the ripples of his impact will continue to expand outward, touching countless others for generations to come.
A celebration of life will be held at Prestonwood Country Club on Friday September 26 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to The Magdalen House at www.magdalenhouse.org/donate/ or the Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.charityproud.org/donate
