Larry Lee Glazener

Larry was born on July 17, 1948, in Dalhart, TX to Buel Victor (BV) and Esther Glazener. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1966, then graduated from West Texas A&M (at that time, West Texas State University) with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After graduating, he worked in the composing rooms of the Amarillo Globe News and the Houston Post, and in between these positions he served on active duty at the US Army Ordnance Center and Schools located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Larry spent most of his career working in banking and finance. In Houston, Dalhart, and Dallas, Texas, he held managerial positions in banks and also worked in underwriting and loan purchasing before moving into a long career at FDIC. Employed primarily in bank resolution and risk sharing asset management, Larry worked at FDIC offices in Cleveland, Washington DC, New Orleans, Houston, and finally Dallas, where he retired.

Larry was an outgoing person who made wonderful friends wherever he went. He enjoyed traveling in Europe and North America, and he shared his getaway homes in New Orleans and Santa Fe with friends and family. He had a gift for entertaining, and he was a keen shopper who liked to go with like-minded friends and relatives to look for special items and good deals. A lover of cars, especially Pontiacs and Lincolns, he was a longtime member of the Dallas Car Club. Larry was a friend to dogs, especially dachshunds, and supported animal rescue organizations as a volunteer and contributor. His dogs gave him great joy.

He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Beverly Glazener (Garland, TX); his niece Elizabeth Glazener and her daughter Alexandra Glazener (Garland, TX); his niece Nancy Glazener (Pittsburgh, PA) and her sons David Foster (Pittsburgh, PA) and Ben Foster (Menlo Park, CA); one grand-niece, Jessica Emms, and her husband Tyler Emms and children Adalynn and Wyatt (Fort Worth); and one grand-nephew, Gene Thomas Glazener, and his wife Amanda Glazener and children Piper and Rowan (Richland WI).
