Kenneth Brantley McDaniel, a loving husband, father “Pops”, grandfather “PePaw”, veteran, and friend “Mac” went home to his Lord and Savior on September 29, 2023, at the age of 73.
Kenneth was born on December 24, 1949, in Houston, TX. He graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in Oak Cliff, TX and soon after was drafted into the US Army. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur Brantley McDaniel and Peggy Nell Garrett, in addition to his beloved grandmother, Katherine McDaniel, nephew, Richard Armstrong, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Willis. His sister-in-law Susan Hall and sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dottie” Armstrong joined him with Jesus a week later.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley McDaniel, his son, Anthony “Tony” McDaniel, daughter, Amy Alcaraz, son-in-law, Gabriel, his grandchildren, Austin and Savannah McDaniel, Sammie and Cody Brown, Zachary and Justina Patton, and Mason and Faith Alcaraz, great-grandchildren, Logan McDaniel, Silas Rivera, Ezra Alcaraz, and Sawyer McDaniel.
Kenneth is also survived by his extended family, sister-in-law, Vickie DeRouen and her husband, Pat DeRouen, brothers-in-law, Richard “Gabby” Armstrong, Robert Willingham, sister-in-law, Paula Willis, numerous nieces and nephews: Chad and Chris, Scott, Dori, and Seth. Kenneth made friends wherever his path led him throughout his life and will be a missing puzzle piece to all who knew him.
Kenneth had achieved many things in his lifetime but none greater than his dedication to Alcoholics Anonymous, where he encouraged many in their journey to stay sober. He enjoyed things such as fishing, competing in pool tournaments, venturing to the State Fair once a year with is wife and dear friends, Burney and Karen. He devoted much time to serving in his community whether it was just a friendly wave, quick talk or even some additional landscaping. He mostly enjoyed all moments he could with his family, including his cat, Kasey.
The celebration of Kenneth Brantley McDaniel’s life will be Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Hampton Road Baptist Church, 400 N. Hampton Road, DeSoto, TX 75115 at 11:00 AM. The military honors service will be held at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211 at 1:30 PM (note-for those who wish to attend please arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior).
