Early childhood was in city housing projects because of family income. They were able to buy a home when Katherine was in in 5th grade.
She became active in Center Hill Baptist Church and gave her life to the Lord there. During high school she taught pre-teens in Sunday School.
She was in Beta Club, Christian groups, and worked on the Annual Staff.
In her senior year she met David Ramsey by inviting him to a Sadie-Hawkins dance. He came over without calling, to see her. She opened the door in her fathers shirt and her hair in curlers. She closed the door. Father called David back. They sat that evening in a swing on her Front porch talking and fell in love for life. Married June 05, 1959. 65 Years.
College ROTC sent them off on a career as a pilot with the Air Force.
Missouri, Alabama, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Louisiana where Bruce the first child was born. Then David went to Vietnam for a year. Katherine returned to Atlanta where Beth was born. After Vietnam came Amarillo where Michael was born.
Then a career change. David began flying for an airline. At First Baptist Dallas she was director/teacher in third grade. Keith was her tag-a-long fourth born in Dallas. She wanted a baby once more. Then on to help start a new church nearby. Prestonwood Baptist where directing/teaching a large fifth grade was a joy. She worked Mothers day out toddlers for years. Then years at First Baptist Richardson and the Goldenaires Choir she loved. And now Hunters Glen Baptist and the Pairs & Spares life group that was her life and joy.
She loved her one year chronological Bible, reading it continuously. I have seen some recognition plaques for 25 years directing/teaching SS and 25 years directing/teaching Vacation Bible school. She would put them in storage. David had to make her buy jewelry and new clothes.
She has been David’s very special blessing from God, and he will miss her so.
But Hallelujah, Katherine is with her Lord and Savior. David will see her again!
