BY ROBERT FROST
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Janie Barnett Bartosiewicz, loving mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday August 8, 2023. She was 79 years old.
Janie was born on November 24, 1943 to her parents Zelma and Robert “Bob” Barnett in Gladewater, Texas. She loved to share childhood stories of her daddy and her simple life in East Texas. She attended high school at East Mountain High School. After her graduation, she continued her education in East Texas State University for her bachelor’s degree. During this time she met and married the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Bartosiewicz. Ted and Janie affectionally retold the story of their engagement, as Ted promised that their union will be a “good financial arrangement” and promised a long life of travel and fun. They married on October 19, 1968; and they did in fact enjoy many years of travel and fun and settled in Grand Prairie Texas. Thereafter, they welcomed her two sons, Russell and Bob, while Janie pursued a Master’s degree in Management Supervision by Central Michigan University. She worked as a laboratory director until her retirement in 1996.
Janie was a loving mother and wife, and a social butterfly. Janie never knew a stranger, and was known to quickly charm a room with her smile and Texas twang. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with nature. She was a Texas Master Gardener and volunteered her time at Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park, where she gave workshops on the natural gardens of the Arboretum. She donated thousands of volunteer hours to the Texas Discovery Gardens, and she talked for hours about the wonders of her garden. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she played the flute in the church choir and taught CCD to younger children. She loved to serve the Lord, sharing her loving spirit to all whom she met. She will be remembered for the love she showed to everyone, her southern charm, and infectious smile.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Janie is survived by her husband Ted; children Russell and Bob Bartosiewicz (and wife Cynthia); grandchildren Ethan and Luke Bartosiewicz; sisters-in-law Barbara Jean Barnett and Betty Sue Draker.
Janie is preceded in death by her granddaughter Vivian Bartosiewicz; parents Zelma and Robert “Bob” Barnett; brothers Ted Barnett and Captain Robert Russell Barnett; sister Betty Ruth Langston Barnett (and husband Dr. William B. Langston Jr.)

Catholic Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00pm, Friday September 1, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 610 NE 17th St, Grand Prairie Texas 75050.
