She was born November 7, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas. Gloria attended elementary and middle school in Ft Worth and she graduated from Diamond Hill Jarvis High School as Valedictorian for the class of 1957. She went on to attend North Texas State University before she met and married Henry Ray Brown, from Cameron, Texas on June 20, 1959. Her chosen career was in the mortgage banking industry and she achieved Vice President Level before retiring in 2007.
Gloria was an active and dedicated member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Waxahachie. She was involved in church for many years as a member of the Altar Guild, and over ten years as the Founding Committee Chair for the annual Church funding event "A Taste of Autumn Tea." Gloria most enjoyed reading and being the head of the Monday and Thursday Bridge Group at the Waxahachie Senior Center.
Gloria loved all of her family, including our extended Colorado family. Gloria cherished going to Colorado on vacation every year for the last 54 years with most of her time being spent at Blue Creek Lodge in South Fork, Colorado. She enjoyed the theatre and attended a play at the Creede Repertory Theatre yearly, until she passed.
Loved ones Gloria left behind are her husband of 65 years, Henry Ray Brown and her three children: daughter, Sherri George and husband Kenneth; her son, Bret Brown and fiancé Candace Hughes; and her son, Brad Brown. She had six grandchildren: Garnett George and wife Ellen; Cameron George and wife Sarah; Cody Brown and wife Ashley; Colton Brown and fiancé Kelsey Kessler; Chelsey Brown; and Hayden Brown. Gloria had eleven great-grandchildren: Isaac and Zoe George; Conner, Gunner and Beau George; Adalyn and Blakely Brown; and Cooper, Isabel, Barrett and Everly Brown.
Gloria was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ann, and her parents, Thomas and Azelle Bassie.
The family is grateful for the condolences and in lieu of flowers, would like to ask that donations be made in memory of Gloria Brown to St. Paul Episcopal Church, Parish Hall Building Fund (spcwax.org or 624 Ovilla Rd., Waxahachie, TX 75167).
