Dorothy May Smith

Irving, Texas, Dorothy May Smith, age 83 passed away on July 2, 2025, after a long illness. Dorothy was born on January 22, 1942 in Dekalb, Illinois, the daughter of Marion & John Hudson. She graduated from Dekalb High School and Kishwaukee College. Dorothy was a registered X-ray Technician, but preferred working with animals.

Dorothy married Virgil L. Smith of Chana, Illinois on June 20, 1983. Together they both enjoyed farming and raising animals. Dorothy loved her sheep and horses. She raised thousands of sheep and several horses. She was a member of the Association of Lamb and Wool Growers. She was a long-time member of both The American Quarter Horse Association and the Green River Saddle Club located in Amboy, Illinois.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Ruth A. Hudson, Irving, Tx, and nephew Albert (Alison) Smith and their children Alana and Allan Smith, Leaf River, II., sister-in law Noreen Hudson of Sycamore, II. and two nieces Angela (Angie) Hudson and Krystal Hudson both of Sycamore, II.

Services for Dorothy will take place in Illinois for immediate family. She will be buried next to her husband (Virgil Smith) at the Malta Cemetery in Malta, Illinois.
