Corey was a man who embraced life with passion and an unstoppable spirit. His career spanned many roles, but he was most proud of his time at Splunk, where he spent eight years building the Plano, DC, and European teams while strengthening the global support organization in countless ways. As Director of Customer Support, Corey was more than just a manager, he was a mentor, a leader, and a friend. His team loved him for his unwavering support, his ability to lead from the trenches, and his genuine care for those around him. In true Corey fashion, he made even work fun—his team at Splunk all had to create a “Zombie Plan” because in Corey’s world, you always had to be ready for anything.
Corey never met a stranger. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and he gave the best hugs. He loved adventure, speed, and the thrill of new experiences. His passion for motocross began at a young age and continued into adulthood, where he shared his love for riding with his friends and kids. He also had a lifelong love for snow skiing, and some of his most cherished memories were trips to the mountains with his wife Melissa, where he proposed to her. They shared a love for travel, especially their summer trips to Jamaica and Mexico, where they enjoyed scuba diving together. On June 19, 2013, Corey and Melissa were married in Jamaica, beginning a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
One of Corey and Melissa’s greatest joys was country dancing. Corey taught Melissa how to dance, and it quickly became a beloved part of their relationship. They spent weekends dancing together, sometimes just the two of them and other times with friends. Their home was always filled with music—Corey loved all kinds of music, and it played daily in the background of their lives. Whether it was impromptu slow dances in the kitchen, lively dance parties with the kids, or attending concerts with friends, Corey made sure their home was always full of rhythm, joy, and love.
Corey also loved fireworks, a passion that grew from Melissa’s love of the Fourth of July. Each year, his fireworks displays got bigger and bigger, as he found so much joy in making the holiday extra special for her. What started as a way to celebrate her favorite holiday became another one of Corey’s many ways of bringing happiness to those he loved.
As a true Texan, Corey loved his guns. Whether it was heading to the range or simply enjoying his collection, he found joy in the craftsmanship and precision of firearms. His love for adventure and preparedness made sure he was always ready—whether for a fun day of shooting or, in true Corey fashion, preparing for that inevitable zombie apocalypse.
Corey had a larger-than-life presence, a storyteller’s charm, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. He adored children—his own and everyone else’s—and coaching Dalton’s soccer team, the Blazing Paws, for five years was one of his greatest joys. Corey believed in kindness and generosity, always saying, “Do one good deed a day.” Whether helping a stranger with car trouble or bringing joy to the sweet ladies at the local stores with his playful flirting, Corey found ways to make the world a brighter place.
But just as important, he also lived by his personal motto: “Do Epic Shit.” Whether it was diving deep into the ocean, riding full throttle on a dirt bike, or making a room erupt in laughter, Corey never did anything halfway—he lived life epically and encouraged others to do the same.
He is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his wife, Melissa McClure; his children, Colton McClure, Madison Bouse, and Dalton McClure; his mother, Marla Mullenix; his grandparents, Bill and Nancy Reagan; his uncle, Ronnie Reagan; his father- and mother-in-law, Jesse and Cindy Bockenstedt; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Matt and Shari Bockenstedt and Josh and Melissa Bockenstedt; and his nieces and nephews, Celeste Dugger, Stoney & Mireya Dugger, Harley Dugger, Maggie Bockenstedt, Molly Bockenstedt, Wyatt Bockenstedt, Emilia Bockenstedt, and Wesley Bockenstedt. He was also deeply loved by his best friends, Wes and Dede Price, and their children, Cy, Marley, and Lilly, who were family to him.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Corey on February 15, 2025, at 3:30 PM at Chase Oaks Church – Legacy Room (281 Legacy Dr, Plano, TX 75023).
Corey’s favorite saying, and the lessons he instilled in his family, was:
“It’s the little things.”
In honor of Corey, may we all remember to embrace life’s adventures, cherish our loved ones, and never underestimate the power of a kind deed—or the importance of doing something truly epic.
