Billy Wilson Cooper, faithful in Christ, passed peacefully into the arms of our loving God March 2, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held April 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rainey’s Chapel located in Wills Point, Texas.
Born in Krum, Texas on July 28, 1935, to his parents Cecil and Pattie (Boughton) Cooper. Billy grew up in Dallas with one brother, David, and his two sisters, Patsy and Shirley.
Billy married the love of his life, Ann Pennington, in 1954. They drove to a church revival in Sherman, Texas so they could be married by their beloved pastor, Brother Greer. Already serving in the US Air Force Reserves, he decided to transfer to active duty. Billy served as a Flight Engineer and was a Vietnam Veteran. After numerous transfers to many different bases, including Guam, Billy retired after serving for 21 years. Billy loved to tell stories about his time in service to our country.
He continued his strong work ethic by starting a second career with the City of Dallas. After working at the city for 20 years, he retired a second time in 1999. Following his passion to serve our Lord, he served as the Pastor at Rainey’s Chapel for over 20 years. If you drove by their house in Edgewood, you would find Billy and Ann sitting on their front porch. Often, Billy could be found working on his sermon for the coming Sunday service.
Billy had a love of life. He loved God, his cherished his wife of 71 years and his beloved family, his Rainey’s Chapel family along with Gospel music.
Billy was preceded in death by both his parents, his son Bradley, his brother David, his sisters Patsy and Shirley, and his great-grand daughter Naomi.
He is survived by his adoring wife Ann, son Billy and wife JoeAnna, daughter Karen and husband David, daughter Kim, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, nephew and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Billy to St. Jude’s.
