age of 72. Born on May 26, 1952, in McKinney, TX, Ann brought warmth, love, and joy to everyone she
encountered. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX, with the Class of 1970 and went
on to build a vibrant career in various roles, including positions at Adidas, the Dallas Apparel Mart, and in real
estate. Her dedication and passion shone brightly during her tenure in the Fine Jewelry department at JC
Penney, where she worked until her retirement.
Ann’s life was defined by her devotion to family, her deep love for animals, and her appreciation for music and
fashion. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her infectious laugh, and the love she poured into her
relationships.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernie Brooks; her mother, Anna Byler Brooks; and her nephews, Otis
Hall and Greg Wages. Ann is survived by her loving partner of 27 years, Brian Cology; her daughters, Kimberly
(Jeff) Richards and April (Quinn) Carlson; and her treasured grandchildren, Caleb Carlson, Kaley Musser, Reed
Richards, Landon Turnipseed, Nathan Richards, and Lily Richards. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters,
Brenda Hall and Betty Wages, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will
continue to celebrate her memory.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Visiting Nurse Association for the compassionate care they
provided to Ann in her final days.
A service to honor Ann’s life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Park Cities Baptist
Church, located at 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, TX 75225. A reception will follow the service. Ann’s legacy
of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
