Born in Oak Park, Illinois, on February 21, 1943, Ginny spent many years in Bloomingdale, Illinois, where she raised her family and built a life centered on love, hard work, and community. After a successful career as a legal assistant, she retired to Sun City Center, Florida, where she enjoyed more than twenty wonderful years surrounded by friends, family, and an active community.
Ginny was a caring, compassionate, loving, and intelligent woman whose beauty shone both inside and out. She instilled these same values in her children, teaching them by example through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family.
She is survived by her beloved children, Richard A. Hargreaves II and Dayna J. Heitz. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Hallie J. Hargreaves (Ashley Hoekstra), Jakob K. Heitz (Ashley), and Mandie J. Heitz-Beam (Logan). Her grandchildren blessed her with seven cherished great-grandchildren: Evelyn C. Hargreaves, Scarlett Ann R. Stout, Kennedy N. Hoekstra, Henry R. Stout, Jackson K. Heitz, Lukas D. Heitz, and Lyla Rae Beam.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart F. Riordon; her parents; her brother; and her sister.
She also leaves behind the memory of the companionship and joy brought to her by her beloved dogs, Mac, Muffin and Lulu.
Ginny embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. She loved traveling wherever the opportunity took her, dancing—including performing belly dancing at the local VFW hall—cooking and baking for family and friends, and spending summers at her lake house. She was known for bringing people together and found great joy in organizing activities, celebrations, and neighborhood gatherings. Her warm spirit, welcoming smile, and ability to make everyone feel included made her a treasured friend and neighbor.
Above all, Ginny's greatest joy was her family. Her love, wisdom, strength, and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion that will live on through the generations she so dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Ginny's lifelong love of animals, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, Indiana. Family and friends may also honor her memory by planting a tree, helping to beautify the world she so dearly loved and leaving a lasting tribute for future generations.
Ginny will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
