Tommie L. Turner, a long-time resident of Gary, passed May 13, 2018. Tommie was born on April 5, 1942, in Rutherford, AL. He graduated from Tolleston High School. Tommie was a Vietnam veteran having proudly served in the Air Force.
He enjoyed an extensive sales career and was especially grateful for the opportunity to serve his customers. An avid history buff; he enjoyed watching the History Channel and reading historical books. Tommie also reveled in energetic debates with friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Moore.
Tommie is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Valerie Keil; his mother, Adrana Davis, Gary, IN; his children; Nathaniel Turner (LaTonya), Zionsville, IN; Kimberly Moore (Jason), Washington, D.C.; and his grandson, Naeem Turner-Bandele, Zionsville, IN.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 2 PM at Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 W. Ridge Rd., Gary, IN 46408 . Memorial gifts may be made to the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World, 575 5th Avenue, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
