Timothy Alan McGuane, 66, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born in Evanston, Illinois, on June 29, 1956, to Eugene J. McGuane and Barbara (Bennett) McGuane. Tim graduated from New Trier East High School in 1974, and then went to the University of Kansas. He married Bridgett Wells on March 17, 1996, and she passed away January 24, 2022.
Tim joined the gymnastics team in high school as a trampoline specialist. Tim was active in Boy Scouts and received the Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scout honors with Troop 13 in Kenilworth, Illinois. After moving to Aspen, Colorado, he was a ski instructor that taught aerial skiing.
Tim later moved to southern Florida to attend pilot’s training school. He was a licensed FAA pilot with certified captain status and logged 22,000 miles in the air for various commuter airlines in Florida for thirty years. He piloted commercial, private, corporate and commuter planes, and was a co-pilot for professional golfer, Jack Nicklaus. He was known as “Captain Timmy” to those who knew him in Florida.
Captain Timmy will be remembered as an excellent pilot, a leader, music lover, karaoke singer, and dedicated friend.
Tim leaves behind to cherish his memory; his mother, Barbara McGuane; his son, Anthony (Lizzy) Little; his brother, Brian McGuane; his sisters, Loreen McGuane and Lou (David) Robisch; a grandson, Carter Little, John Dynowski (EJ) and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Bridgett McGuane; his father, Eugene J. McGuane; his brother, Eugene J. “EJ” McGuane Jr. and step-mother, Mary McGuane.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for the summer of 2023. Neptune Society is in charge of cremation arrangements.
