Soledad “Sally” Haynes, 91, passed peacefully on the afternoon of April 13, 2023, with family at her side. Sally was born October 12, 1931, the daughter of Piero and Florencia (Demen) Amberti, in the Philippines and grew up in northern Italy. That is where she met the love of her life, Harry Haynes.
Going from a life of abundance, to starting a new life in 1958 Chicago with little money, no jobs, and a baby on the way was a huge change, but love proved to conquer all throughout their life together. Thirty years later they became the owner operators of Beaver Point Campground in Windfall, Indiana, which remains family owned to this day.
She is survived by her sister Michelina, her 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren plus one on the way; one great-great grandchild, and several other beloved family members who remained very close to Sally.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Florencia and Piero; and her loving husband, Harry Vernon Haynes.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Join us at Beaver Point Campground, 10162 East 500 South, Windfall, Indiana 46076.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations of perennial plants that may be planted throughout the campground as a remembrance of Sally that will reflect her love of gardening.
For anyone interested in sending the family plants or flowers, we recommend Flowers by Ivan & Rick, in Kokomo.
Thank you all for the love, prayers, and condolences being sent our way. They are very much appreciated by the entire family.
Neptune Society is in charge of cremation arrangements.
