Sherri Denise Wakefield

Sherri Wakefield was born Mar-02-1953 in Terre Haute, Indiana and passed away at home surrounded by family on Feb-14-2026. Sherri is pre-deceased by her parents, Duane and Jacqueline Wakefield, newborn son, Ross Roettele and son-in-law Tim Wiensch. Sherri is survived by daughters, Krista Wood, Kaitlyn Wiensch, Kortney Fish, sisters Vicki Flora, Kathi Trimble, Wendi Wakefield, brother-in-law Rich Flora, son-in-law Craig Wood and 5 treasured grandchildren.

She was a graduate of the last class of Garfield High School and earned her Masters of Interior Design degree at Indiana State University. She was a celebrated artist, talented interior designer and an educator throughout her life. Sherri lived in Colorado Springs for nearly 20 years before returning to the Terre Haute area in 2018 where she enjoyed spending time laughing with family and friends, including the Garfield Girls, Friday Morning Coffee gatherings and game nights with family. To know Sherri was to laugh with her, share good food and be the recipient of her kindness and compassion.

Sherri requested remembrance by donating to the Happy Tails Rescue or paying toward delinquent school lunch bills at the school of your choice.

A celebration of Sherri and her life will be held at The Red Barn at 5001 Poplar St. Terre Haute, Indiana on Tuesday February 24th, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. In typical Sherri fashion, it will be a dessert bar and a sharing of stories to celebrate her characteristic humor and kindness.
