Ron was born on November 4, 1940, to Robert and Eunice Jahrman in Warner, Oklahoma. A tribal citizen of the Cherokee Nation, Ron attended Warner Grade School and High School (class of 1958), where he developed lifelong friendships. It has been said that a person’s character can often be judged by the length of the friendships kept. He was blessed to have friends dating back to his early elementary days, many still calling often to check in until his final week of life.
Ron served for four years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. It was there while stationed in Nevada that he met and married the love of his life, Beth (Evans) Jahrman on May 19, 1964. Ron and Beth shared fifty-seven years of marriage until her death in 2021.
Ronald held a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University, was a licensed electrician, Jet mechanic, and held a Universal EPA 608 Certification. Ron began his career working in Thailand as a private contractor for the Department of Defense on five Thai Royal Air Force and Army Bases. His desire for more time with his family brought him back to the states. Ron and Beth relocated their family from Oklahoma to Indiana in 1974. It was during this time that Ron began his career with GTE North where he retired as head of Buildings, Fleet, and Energy Operations for the state of Indiana. Ron came out of retirement for a short period to oversee a large building project for Kokomo Schools where he acted as the interim architect and construction manager.
Ron had a great love for classic cars and owned and restored many over the years. He overhauled his first engine at the age of nine and from there he was hooked! On the weekends he could often be found working in his garage or visiting auto shows with his wife Beth.
Ronald leaves behind his children, Kayla Jahrman of Austin, TX, Chris (Lisa) Jahrman of Federal Way, WA, Julie Louly (Edwin) Brochin of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan (Connie) Jahrman, Scott (Casey) Jahrman, Evan (Kerry) Jahrman, David LaBard, Jessica LaBard, Christopher Louly, Marc Louly and one great-grandson, Jackson Jahrman.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Beth.
Our family would like to express gratitude and appreciation to Paradigm Health Hospice who made it possible for our dad to transition peacefully at home. We are forever grateful to the staff for the loving care and support during our father’s final days.
No services are planned at Ron’s request. Neptune Society is in charge of cremation arrangements.
