Robert A. "Bob" Swanson, Jr., 76, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018. He was born February 21, 1942 in Evanston, IL to Lt. Robert A. Swanson and Carol Moore Swanson. Following his graduation from DeVry Technical Institute he relocated to the Indianapolis area where he began his career at Indiana Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1993 after 29 years. Earlier in life he owned a machine shop and was actively involved at Raceway Park in Clermont, IN. He continued to follow racing the rest of his life. Bob was an avid SCUBA diver and SCUBA instructor for many years and traveled extensively.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Sandy; his daughters, Ann Swanson-Sanchez (Carlos) and Jennifer McCoy (Brian); his siblings, Phil Swanson, Karen Swanson Kaplan, Ginger Richards, Loretta Pienta, and Edith "Kitty" Hodel; and his four grandchildren, Zackery and Sophia Sanchez and Jackson and Sydney McCoy. Bob "Swanee" will be missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
