Robert (Bob) Carter, 86, was called home to Heaven on March 13, 2016 Bob was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 1, 1929. Son of Golden and Lillie (Deavers) Carter. Bob attended Muncie Community Schools and bravely served his country for 23 years where he earned a Purple Heart and may other commendations. Bob retired from the United States Army in 1971 and later worked for Muncie Community Schools and eventually retired from Premix and Old National Bank. Bob loved watching Indiana University and Pacers games, camping, the Indianapolis Colts and just couldn't pass up a good Nascar race. Jeff Gordon was his favorite. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Marianne Carter, a brother, Charles (wife Barbara) Carter of Chesterfield, Indiana, two sons, Robert D. Carter, Jr. and Dan (wife Deb) Carter all of Florida, two daughters Pam (husband Robert) Smith of Mississippi and Debra Bainter of Muncie, two stepsons, Bruce (wife Mary) Ward and Douglas Ward of Muncie, a stepdaughter, Leanne (husband Ron) Young of Brooklyn, Indiana, 18 grand children, 17 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Bob loved his grandchildren and nieces and nephews and they all loved him. Bob was preceded in death by 4 sisters, 4 brothers, 1 grandchild, a stepson and a great grandchild. Family and friends are welcome to a Celebration of Bob's Life later this summer. Burial will be at Garden of Memory later this summer with full military rites.
