Rick was born on Saturday October 25, 1947, at 5:13 pm in Glasgow MT. to Carroll James and Joyce Julene (Calfee) Quiring. On December 4, 2003, he was united in marriage to Julia Ann Bender (Columbia City, IN).
At a very young age Rick and his family moved from Montana to California.
Rick graduated from William S. Hart High School in June 1965. On October 7, 1965, he enlisted in the US Navy serving on the USS Biddle on Tonkin Gulf in Vietnam as an electronics technician radar-man 3rd class petty officer. Rick received his honorable discharge on October 24, 1968.
While living in Decatur, TX he was an active member of the Wise County Veterans and enjoyed attending their Saturday morning breakfast.
After serving in the US Navy Rick attended Riverside City College in Riverside, CA and in June 1976 graduated with his degree in Associate Arts.
Around 1980 Rick moved from California to Texas and started work at A-1 Freeman Moving and Storage in Dallas, TX. His main title was as a dispatcher but over the years could do most jobs at the company till he retired from there in 2020. In 2008 Rick was diagnosed with squamos cell cancer and kept working till the radiation made him too tired. He went back to full time work in March 2009. Rick was also a “numbers man” and worked at H&R Block in Texas and Indiana.
Rick’s favorite past times include golf, watching birds, deer in our backyard in TX, spending time with his wife Julia. Both of them loved sports and being in the Dallas area loved the Dallas Stars (hockey), Dallas Mavericks (NBA), Texas Rangers (baseball) and for NFL there was a rivalry, Julia is a Dallas Cowboy fan (Tom Landry and Roger Staubach era) while Rick was a San Francisco 49er fan (we loved the rivalry). Rick was a devout Christian and loved reading the King James Version of the Bible. Rick and Julia enjoyed reading the Upper Room every night.
After his cancer he was cold so being outdoors was something, he loved, taking care of the yard and listening to the birds and taking care of the deer.
