

Richard L. Suda, age 80, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family, at his home in Lafayette, Indiana on Feb. 5th, 2024. Richard was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1943 to Mary (Strejc) Macejak. He grew up in Chicago and attended Gage Park High School. Richard served in the US Army in Europe in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1963.
He was a loving husband and devoted father of three children. Richard worked at Ball Metal Factory in Chicago for eighteen years. He moved to Rice Lake, Wisconsin in 1986 and lived there for twenty-five years. Richard and Diane were members of the New Life Christian Center in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and enjoyed serving at church. He also worked as a bus driver for the Rice Lake School Corporation (S&J Smith Corp.) for eighteen years. Richard and Diane moved to Lafayette, Indiana in 2010 to be near family.
Richard was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and loved to watch sports, but mostly his sons baseball, basketball, and football games. He loved to bowl and even bowled a 300 game. Other favorite hobbies include reading newspapers and watching westerns and classics on the tube. He was a good storyteller and a real jokester with a fun sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (Sliva) Suda of Lafayette; sisters, Joan (Suda) & Ted Newburg of Texas, and step-sisters Celia (Macejak) Pikulski and Helen (Macejak) Dorthy of Illinois.; children, Rodney (Evonne) Suda of Orlando, Florida, Sherry (Terence) Banes of Brookston, Indiana, and David Suda of Lafayette; grandchildren Stephanie (Alex) Rodriguez of Wisconsin, Katherine and Magdalen; great-grandchildren Arianna and Cali; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Strejc) Macejak, step-father Windell Macejak, and his brother Donald Strejc.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Clarks Hill Christian Church- 9510 Pearl Street, Clarks Hill, Indiana. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. Service will start at 1:00 pm. with a meal following the service. Contact Pastor Jeff by email: [email protected].
