Paul E. Rupprecht Jr., 89, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2023. The younger of two children, he was born to Paul and Mildred Rupprecht in Indianapolis and grew up in the historic Hotel Lincoln which his father managed. Paul attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis where he met his first wife, Barbara, and later graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in mechanical engineering.
After serving his country as a naval aviator flying P2V’s in Hawaii and Japan, he returned to Indiana and worked for Muncie Aviation for 24 years, where he sold Piper piston aircraft and turboprops and served as president of Muncie CORPAC.
Paul and Barbara had two sons, Paul III and D. Kip. Paul and his wife Cindy have two children, Paul IV (Jennifer) and Heather McCoy (Mark), and four grandchildren. Kip and his wife Angela have two daughters, Julie Rupprecht and Carol Trevithick (Ryan), and three grandchildren. Barbara passed away in 1980.
Paul met his second wife, Judith M. Rupprecht, at Muncie Aviation and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage. Judy’s family enriched Paul’s life with four stepchildren: Richard Dunnuck Jr. (Teresa), Randall Dunnuck (Tona), Debra Vandagriff (Larry) and Deanna Dunnuck (Stacy). His legacy lives on through his wife Judy, 6 children, 25 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Georgiana Schroeder.
After retirement Paul and Judy served as flying missionaries in rural Canada for LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots), and then Paul served for years as a lay minister at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Evansville, Indiana. They enjoyed ten additional years of retirement in Phoenix, Arizona. Throughout the years, Paul loved singing in the choir and serving in various capacities at church. He was an avid evangelist, sharing the message of Jesus and witnessing by example.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hoosier Village Retirement Community, Chapel Building, 9787 Hoosier Village Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46268. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00. Chaplain Ron May will conduct the service.
