Nan Celia Mayo, 84, of Elwood, Indiana, passed away, on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Elwood Health and Living. She was born in Anderson, Indiana, on Monday, December 5, 1938, to James and Mildred (Adams) Elmore.
Nan was a lifelong waitresses working over 20 years in the industry before moving to Florida where she eventually retired. She fell in love with living in Florida where family was able to visit and make wonderful memories over the summers. She made many friends over the years who she loved to play cards with as a pastime. Some other things she loved included flowers and animals; especially her companion Missy.
She is survived by her son, Scott (Debbie) Waymire; stepson, Glenn (Mary) Waymire; daughters, Marcie (Terry) Tankersley, Catherine Bannon, Debra (Moe) Richardson, and Vicki Gallivan; a sister, Sallie Elmore; grandchildren, Shanon Fortner, Cliff Heath, Brittani Sterling, Anthony (Kylie) Luyet, Taylor (Macie) Young, Wesley Young, John Kaniewski, Kayla (Louis) Novello, Kaylee Waymire, Jesse Waymire, Bart Richardson, and Lisa Richardson; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mildred; a sister, Sharon Edmonson; and grandchildren, Stacy Carter and Richie Heath.
A remembrance ceremony will be planned at a later date. Neptune Society is in charge of cremation arrangements.
