Michael Edgar Murphy

Michael "Murph" E. Murphy, age 74 of Boonville, Indiana peacefully returned to the Stars and the Earth on December 1, 2016. Murph was an adventurer and a bit of an eccentric renaissance man. He was an engineer, inventor, avid billiards player, sailor of his beloved Hobies, motorcyclist, airplane pilot, scuba diver, technology enthusiast, astronomy lover, environmentalist and also a Vietnam Veteran. He was forever curious about how the universe works and all that it encompassed. But more than any of those things, he was a friend and a dad. He was fond of so many people he had met along the way and he will live on in all of us who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father Charles R. Murphy and brother Kerry B. Murphy. He is survived by his mother Marjorie Murphy, daughter Erin Murphy (Michael Merrill), girlfriend Terrie Gibbs, his sisters Janet Watkins (Rick), Kathy Murphy-Sweat (Shawn) and Keven Murphy. A celebration of life is planned for Friday, December 16 at 6:00 PM at Bob's International Lounge 907 North Fares Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47711. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lung Cancer Alliance.
